For 50 years, HBO has broken new ground and elevated the landscape of TV in film, documentary, drama, comedy, news, and sports. Through its award-winning storytelling, HBO has introduced the world to characters and storylines that have captured the spirit of popular culture and remain relevant today.

The Ask

In honor of HBO’s 50th anniversary, we launched the “Fifty Years of Firsts'' campaign, which celebrated the first premium network’s culture-defining legacy.

Approach

A multi-faceted campaign which included a 50th anniversary logo, social videos, content, talent engagement and creators was brought together to highlight the very special, many “firsts” throughout HBO’s history.

Produced a series of posts to celebrate 50 of the most memorable characters from all of HBO’s original series. Fans got to delight in seeing their favorite characters represented, and engaged in additional social conversation around who they thought was snubbed.

Just as we expected, even cast members organically joined in on the celebration, for example, Lisa Kudrow sharing her selection for The Comeback on her personal social media pages.
